
Deputy Governor responsible for the Supervision of Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection

<Dr. Levente Sipos-Tompa has served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB), responsible for the supervision of financial institutions and consumer protection, since 2 October 2025. He is a member of the Management Board of the European Banking Authority (EBA) and also serves as a voting member of the EBA Board of Supervisors, representing the National Bank of Hungary. He earned his law degree from Pázmány Péter Catholic University in 2008 and later completed a Master’s degree in Economics at Corvinus University of Budapest in 2011. He passed the Hungarian bar examination in 2016. He began his professional career at the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) in 2009. Following several management positions, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in April 2019, a role he held for more than five years. During this period, he gained extensive experience in development banking and the deployment of European Union funding. For two years, he represented Hungary on the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB), where he participated in the decision-making processes of the multilateral development bank. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Long-Term Investors Association (ELTI). He is married and has two children.
