Balázs Juszt

Hailing from a showbusiness family, Balazs worked as a child actor on stage and in film, then popped up behind the camera directing commercials and music videos. He penned and translated several books while also wrote for numerous TV series before he turned 18. He received a BSc Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London, then studied under Academy Award-winning Cathy Schulman at UCLA, where he received an MFA in Producing. He interned at Gerber Pictures, Section Eight and Spyglass. He worked for Skyfilm Studios in Budapest, and directed numerous TV shows and was head writer on a couple of comedy series in his native Hungary for RTL before. He also worked as a showrunner for Paprika Studios. He wrote and directed half a dozen short films that travelled the festival circuit and his feature debut, The Man Who Was Thursday starring François Arnaud, Ana Ularu, Jordi Mollá, and Mark Ivanir premiered at the 70th Edinburgh Film Festival and is under SP Releasing.

Balazs ran Bull’s Eye Ltd., a production shingle founded by his father in 1990 and produced dozens of prime time shows with a team of 40+ employees, generating a non-fiction library of 20+ formats. Balazs founded Spanish Wax Entertainment, a production company that has done campaigns for the likes of Paulo Coelho, Nokia, and Coca Cola and developed dozens of scripted series, mostly in the espionage/political thriller world for the likes of AMC, Apple, Netflix, The Ink Factory, Swiss Television and Skybound. Balazs most recently wrote a feature titled Ghost of Tomorrow for Studio 3six9; Rogue Male - the James Bond origin story for Consortium Pictures and producer Christian Moore; created a series called The Unilateral with Natascha McElhone for Chalkboard Entertainment and Paramount+; and a CIA Cold War drama series called Codeword:Rubicon for Swiss Television and Skybound. He is repped by Roy Ashton at Gersh. He holds Hungarian and Israeli citizenships and is a member of the Hungarian Film Academy and the Hungarian Association of Directors.
