Zsombor Barta

Zsombor has more than two decades of professional experience in sustainable real estate development, the application of green building certification systems (BREEAM, LEED, WELL, DGNB, and EDGE) in Hungary and the wider region, as well as the development of property-specific ESG and net-zero carbon strategies. His professional commitment is reflected in his six-year tenure as President of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC), serving two consecutive terms. He currently remains actively involved as an Ambassador of the organization. Throughout his career, he has supported the sustainable development of numerous iconic commercial, industrial, and office projects in Hungary, while also taking a leading role in complex urban development initiatives, including the sustainability and legacy concept of Budapest’s Olympic Bid and the development of the capital’s Smart Budapest framework. His presentations focus on climate adaptation of the built environment, the practical challenges posed to the real estate market by European ESG and EU Taxonomy regulations, and the feasibility of achieving net-zero carbon targets. His professional mission is to demonstrate that creating a future-proof and sustainable built environment is no longer merely an ecological imperative, but a fundamental prerequisite for long-term economic value creation and business success.
