Dr. Attila Patócs

Prof. Dr. Attila Patócs is a university professor at the Institute of Laboratory Medicine of Semmelweis University, and the Deputy Medical Director of the National Institute of Oncology, head of the diagnostic area. He is a leading expert in Hungarian endocrinology, molecular genetics and precision oncology. He received his general medical degree in 1998 from Semmelweis University, and then earned a degree in biomedical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He received his PhD in endocrinology and genetics in 2005. His areas of expertise include the genetics of hereditary tumors, molecular testing of endocrine tumors, biomarker research and personalized tumor treatment. During his career, he was the leader of several domestic and international research programs, and participated in the establishment and management of several research groups. His scientific work is characterized by more than 270 publications, nearly 8,000 independent references, and numerous domestic and international awards. He takes an active role in scientific public life, is a board member of several professional societies, the outgoing president of the Hungarian Society of Human Genetics and Genomics, and the former secretary general of the Hungarian Society of Oncologists. With his research and professional activities, he significantly contributes to the development of precision diagnostics and personalized oncology care in Hungary.
